4th of July weekend
Sooooo ready for this weekend! Here’s whats goin down.
Tomorrow morning, me and Derrick are picking up our rental car at 8 am. We are then packing it up and heading to Tennessee, to Lake Norris where his grandma has a lakehouse and boat. We will get there around 1 or 2 im guessing. Not sure. We will be there on the lake until Monday, when we are coming back home. I’m lucky enough to have work off on Monday since the holiday falls on a sunday. So woooo to that.
Sad part is that I will be missing my family tradition that I’ve had for my whole life. We go to the Beech Grove fireworks on the 3rd and the downtown Indy fireworks on the 4th…we’ve been doing that and sitting in the same exact spots all my life. So my family was sad I won’t be there this year but after dating Derrick for 2 and a 1/2 years, I need to participate in his family traditions too. Gotta share, ya know.
So it will be bittersweet this weekend…I’m praying PRAYING that I don’t tear up and cry during the fireworks…I really really will be missing my family. Its such a huge, fun holiday for us. Its a time when people we don’t see even on a monthly basis come out and just meet at the same place, without any planning. We just go. Its tradition. So…I’m breaking it this year and we’ll see about next. Yikes.
Also, his grandma didn’t want us to bring my new puppy, Fiona. She is 7 weeks now and she thinks it would be too hard since we are on the lake all day. SO I was sad about that….I’ll miss her, shes my baby. But my mom said she will watch her for me. *Sigh* She’ll be so happy when I get home Monday lol
